A Trenton man is facing two possession of child pornography charges after the highway patrol conducted an investigation into offenders allegedly sharing child porn online.

David B. O’Riordan, 72, is charged with two counts of felony possession of child pornography involving a second or subsequent offense or possession of more than 20 images, according to online court records.

The case was filed July 13 in Grundy County Circuit Court. A warrant was issued that day with no bond allowed, and O’Riordan was taken into custody by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the probable cause statement, a search warrant was executed on O’Riordan’s computer and other electronic devices and investigators allegedly contained files of child porn.

O’Riordan appeared in court July 14 for his initial appearance. Court records state an initial plea of not guilty was entered. He remained held without bond following the hearing.

A bond hearing was held July 28 after O’Riordan requested a modification of his bond. The prosecuting attorney objected to the request, but the court modified the bond to $500,000 cash only.

Court records also show O’Riordan applied for services through the Missouri State Public Defender System. At an Aug. 25 hearing, the court determined the defendant did not qualify for public defender services and the was continued to Sept. 8 while O’Riordan seeks legal counsel.
