Catelin Bowe and Matthew Kralicek were crowned queen and king as Trenton High School celebrated its 84th annual homecoming Sept. 22-25 with the theme “Let’s Have a Marvel-ous Homecoming.”

The seniors were crowned at the community pep rally at C.F. Russell Stadium. Fellow senior candidates were Makayla Mejia, Addisyn Freeman, Bradly Miller and Camden Skipper.

Junior attendants were Addisyn Wehar and Kolt Matthews; sophomore attendants were Paige Little and Luke Csicsai; and freshman attendants were Marie Tobias and Chase Harris. Crown bearers were Demi Gan and Ozzie Zang.

Students showed their school spirit through hallway decorations and four dress-up days: Class Choice, Heroes vs. Villains, Color War and Blackout. The themes gave students opportunities to dress as favorite Marvel characters and wear their class homecoming shirts, while hallway judging was part of the competition for the Spirit Belt.

George Moore, a 1967 THS graduate, was selected as parade grand marshal. Moore spent 31 years in education, including his final 21 years with the Trenton R-9 School District, serving as a teacher, coach, principal and district administrator. His work included coaching basketball, football and track, as well as overseeing transportation, maintenance and district safety.

Jesse Meek, a 2005 THS graduate and Army National Guard major, was selected as the pep rally guest speaker. He serves as chief of air missile defense for the 110th Movement Enhancement Brigade in Kansas City. Meek joined the National Guard in 2011 and has deployed to Kosovo and Kuwait.

Friday’s schedule included the homecoming parade and football game. The Bulldogs added a victory to the celebration, shutting out South Harrison 15-0 at C.F. Russell Stadium for their first win of the season.
