Grundy County Democrats Meet

Submitted

Grundy County Democrats met Tuesday, September 30th to finalize plans for the booth at Missouri Day and to learn more about two of the issues for which signatures are being gathered to go on the November 2026 ballot.

Volunteers signed up to help set up the booth on Thursday afternoon, October 16 and to work at the booth on Friday and Saturday, October 17 and 18. There was discussion regarding the information that will be available for visitors to pick up. Visitors may also get a sticker with a positive message.

Two petitions for which signatures are being gathered will be available for signing. There will be detailed information regarding both. One petition, “Respect Missouri Voters,” will protect the initiative petition process as it currently is instead of making it harder for citizens to place issues on the ballot or that legislators may not support. The second one will force a referendum on the new congressional district map recently passed by the General Assembly, attempting to drastically change the make-up of the current 5th district, currently located in Jackson County, instead of waiting for the next census information.
